Research in business is about investigating real questions, examining data, and proposing solutions that create economic and social value. Whether you conducted an industry competitive analysis, a financial valuation model, an econometric regression, or an empirical marketing study, your work belongs here.
Students who present at the Fall Poster Session earn college recognition, awards, and the opportunity to represent the Paul and Virginia Engler College of Business at university-wide symposiums.
Before you start: which Claude plan do you use?
This tool runs on your own Claude account. Your answer lets us give you the right tips. We can't see your account; it's just for this page.
Make your poster in a Claude chat
You'll use a regular Claude chat with your own account (a free account works). Claude reads your paper, drafts each poster section, revises them with you, and gives you a final checklist.
- Copy the poster instructions.
- Open a new chat in Claude and sign in if asked.
- Paste the instructions into the message box, attach your paper (Word or PDF) with the paperclip or + button, and send.
- Follow Claude's steps. Review each section, ask for changes, and copy approved sections into the matching boxes on the template.
Download the template first: Keep the whole poster in one chat so Claude remembers your paper.

Upload your class paper
Upload the final version of your paper as a Word file (.docx) or PDF. The tool reads it once and drafts every poster section in a single pass.
While you wait, download the college poster template. You'll copy each approved section into it:
Drop your file here or
Word (.docx) or PDF. Older .doc files: save as .docx first.
Paste your paper's text instead
Draft my poster sections
Claude reads your paper and drafts every section in one pass. Drafting takes about a minute. You don't need a Claude account.
AI helps organize and format your own work, but accuracy and authenticity remain your responsibility. Leave out anything confidential, such as company data shared with you privately.
Prefer a regular Claude chat? Switch to the chat instructions.
Your poster sections
Start over? This clears your current drafts from this browser.
For each section: read it carefully, edit it directly in the box, or use Shorten, Lengthen, or New version. When it's right, select Approve. You're the author, so check every fact against your paper.
Poster title
Pick one (or write your own) for the TITLE box at the top of the template. Put your name(s) and "West Texas A&M University" beneath it.
Almost done
All sections are approved. Before you submit, finish these on your PowerPoint poster:
- Rename each box heading to the section titles you chose here. The template's headings are only a starting point.
- Delete template sample content that doesn't fit your project: the Participants / Procedure / Measures labels, the random-assignment flowchart, the sample chi-square text, and the Figure 1 and Figure 2 placeholders.
- Add a chart or visual built from your own data or analysis. See the ideas above.
- Double-check your references for accuracy and formatting.
- Contact information: your name and WT email, plus your faculty mentor's name, title, and email.
- Acknowledgments: for example, "We thank Dr. [Name] for mentoring and support." Delete the funding sentence unless your project actually received a grant.
- Add your course title and semester near the footer.
- Save the file as Lastname_Firstname_CourseTitle.pptx (or your team name), then go to Submit my poster.
What counts as student research?
Student research in business is a systematic investigation that answers a meaningful question or analyzes a real business problem. It goes beyond textbook exercises or summaries, but it doesn't need to be a formal academic paper.
Think about what you might be asked to research at work: Why did sales decline? Should we enter a new market? How can we reduce employee turnover? Are we complying with new regulations?
Question + Evidence + Analysis + Insight
Your project qualifies if it
- asks a clear and relevant question,
- uses evidence or data,
- applies business reasoning or analysis, and
- draws meaningful conclusions or recommendations.
Examples
- Applied and case study research. Analyzing survey results to improve a promotional strategy; evaluating how a company improved operations through organizational change; analyzing a company's financial statements and estimating its value; designing an employee retention plan from feedback data.
- Empirical research. Studying how interest rate changes affect small-firm borrowing; examining how housing costs relate to regional business growth.
- Experimental or behavioral research. Testing how ad design influences purchase intent; simulating investor reactions to earnings news.
- Policy, legal, or economic analysis. Assessing how new employment laws affect hiring; evaluating how tariffs influence industry competitiveness.
- Data and technology projects. Building a dashboard to track company performance; using analytics tools to measure digital campaign results.
Projects can be individual or team-based, quantitative or qualitative, and from any business course. You can use a project you've already completed for class.

- Connect with faculty and fellow students.
- Awards and food are planned. Last year, each participant received a Certificate of Research Achievement signed by the Dean.
- Several of last year's participants refined their posters and went on to represent the college at the university's spring research poster session.
